Remembering our former President, Dave Townsend OBE

Farewell to a dear friend of everyone here at CTRFC

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our friend and past President of the club, Dave Townsend OBE has died after a lengthy illness.

Towner was a committed club man, generous with his time and so full of energy, fun and enthusiasm. A family man at heart, he enjoyed life to the full and after a successful career, devoted much of his time to the rugby club. This most recently involved rallying the troops, known as Dad’s Army, to help maintain and improve the Newlands ground.  Regularly found in the corner of the bar with a pint in hand, he had time for everyone and was never short of a story or two. Towner made everyone feel welcome and was a great support to so many at the club.

I personally very much appreciated his guidance, friendship and wonderful sense of humour. Towner will be very sadly missed by us all and we send our deepest condolences and love and best wishes to his wife Mo their three sons, Dan, Matt and Ben.
