I can’t blame the RFL for taking a stance, even though I miss the big hits. They’ve got to set the example and deter the temptation to push it late, even if this one does seem a bit harsh. If the body isn’t braced for impact the whiplash is potentially causing more pressure on the brain as it gets rattled around. This is a hot topic and the last thing we want is to appear as a sport that doesn’t care in the current climate. We need parents encouraging their kids to take up RL knowing that they’ll be protected as far as possible. We don’t want to get ‘cancelled’, we already receive enough bad press.
