It's true that the ratio of kids who make it is low, so there is no point opening more and more academies along the M62. It creates more and more costs and more and more failures who tend to give the game up and not go back to their community club.
In addition the top prospects often ignore their local club such as Widnes because they can go to Wigan if dad drives them there and back.
So I see no problem, only a brave move forward to accommodate Welsh players at Salford, to join the first class academy at Newcastle and the First class academy in London. This is widening the search for talent net.

The M62'ers didn't want London or Newcastle...Different tune if they get into Super League.
6 M62 clubs full time professional,probably overseas head coaches and half backs,with reserves,academies and all the money.
The rest thrown on the scrapheap.
