The Virtual Terrace • Who can stop St Helens

Two Points wrote:

It seemed to me that Leeds had decided that they had little chance of beating Saints so fielded an almost 'A' team. No doubt their excuse will be that they were tired after Wembley. To their credit Salford put out an almost full strength side. Unfortunately for them it ended in the same sort of result. However I think everybody knew who was going to win in the Saints - Leeds game before it kicked off. This kind of thing makes for poor tv. Should Leeds be fined? Personally I think you should be forced to play your best team unless they are injured. The whole thing makes a mockery of the game. I now await the 'its a squad game these days' comments.

"Almost full strength"?

Evalds
Welham
Sarginson
Sio
Brown
Dudson
Ikahihifo
Lannon

That's 8 missing from our strongest 17 (could argue Lannon is borderline) that I can think of straight off the top of my head.

Salford's squad is so much smaller than everyone else's though and we don't have quality juniors to call on like the "big" clubs with academies. Saints and Wire up next could be pretty painful tbh with some pretty knackered players who've been going back to back.
