Why wait til the new deal? If Lenegan doesn't want Toronto and is as powerful as you claim, why don't he and Elstone just insist that P&R for this season be upheld, what with TWP looking a shoo-in for the drop? But the fact is, Elstone's arguing the opposite.
One of us is missing something here.
Toronto Wolfpack had an awful start to the season, but I was at their last match when they shut down Fartown in the Challenge Cup. They played well and won a game that had the Fartown coach angry with his side, as Ken Davey loves the Challenge cup and the coach felt the team had let him down. HKR won their first game against a poor Wakefield and led against Hull in the Derby, but after that their thin squad started to struggle very badly.I don't know with respect if your question is actually genuine or if your just on the usual trip some people are on of trying to justify the North American dream, but let me explain at least for others anyway.......
Mr. Pearson wants HKR in superleague period. So do all the other SL clubs who tried to go for a 13 club Superleague the last time HKR hit relegation in 2016. That was in the end not possible and Neil Hudgell and Tony Crosssland took a big financial hit, but played the game and won promotion to get back in Superleague. They accepted Salford had won the MPG fair and square. even though they did not accept the concept of the MPG (note HKR did not come bottom). The SL clubs duly did a deal with the RFL to kick the MPG out.
Hudgell and Crossland who run a proper member club, and have player development. and add to the TV deal, quite rightly will not countenance being relegated again with the phoney TWP who give nothing to the game (no TV deals/NA SL quality players) staying in the competition. This has forced the other SL clubs into making sure Rovers do not go down, which would risk losing Hudgell and Crossland and HKR possibly permanently.
They would prefer to scrub relegation to give Crossland and Hudgell a guarantee of no relegation, even if TWP stay up. TWP can carry on this and next year as that's the deal, but come 2022 as Lenegan said and as was reported openly only English clubs will be in Superleague 2022. Those English clubs want Hudgell & Crossland with them.Even if HKR were bottom 2021 they would still be in the new 2022 SKY deal. You must understand how Hudgell has been closely by Lenegan and Pearsons sides throughout all the troubles with the RFL.
