Leigh Centurions • Re: db gone

There’s lots of people who own businesses but don’t get involved in day to day running, recruitment procurement etc, they leave it to and trust those they’ve employed, if that’s not working they change those employees.

The company I work for the Chairman owns 52% but has no involvement other than an annual board meeting with the two other directors.

If DB needs to get involved and micro manage those around him then he’s employing the wrong calibre of people.

Precisely Glow, and I know where you are coming from with that statement, BUT and it is a big BUT Leigh Centurions is not DB's core buisness, it does not make him his fortune, it is essentially his pastime, he does not need to gift his money to the club, he could easily race those fast cars he likes, play the worlds most exculsive golf courses or anything else he desires up to his budget limit he invested in the club, it was/is essentially his hobby.
Regarding his staff, apart from the playing roster his two most important employees were his coach and DoR, without contradiction from anyone I will argue till the cows come home, that those appointments and loyalty to them by DB have put the club in the predicament we are in today.
I don't know your company or even the size of it, but in a completely different way to your Chairman, I had a company of some 50 employees but I was "hands on" avaiable 24/7 lets say nose to the grindstone, which I felt I needed to be and was involved in most of those aspects you say owner's need not get involved in!
