Agreed about Gilmour. I remember him scoring a great full length try against Leeds in 98 I think.
Haughton scored one similar against Leeds too IIRC.
Yeah Gilmour was quick. It was in the game that sent us to Old Trafford in 98 V Leeds at Central Park. We had found Leeds hard to beat that year and struggled to score tries against them. Gilmour threw a dummy and went 70 metres. I was there that night and remember when the cameras panned to John Monie he was sat there offering a tin of uncle joes mint balls around to those around him lol. Really under rated player Gilmour.
Haughton scored a cracking try V Leeds earlier in the same season. I think he came off the bench and we had struggled to break Leeds defence down all night. Haughton ran on to the ball in our own half, knocked Morley off and sprinted 60 metres holding the Leeds fullback off as he went over in the corner. It was a great try but i cant find it anywhere now. There was no better sight than Haughton in full flight, you knew if he broke the line that he wouldnt be stopped.
Leeds were a great team in 98. Graham Murray was a very good coach.
