Royals Triumph at Stourport

Royal Chester Rowing Club had a great weekend when crews travelled to Stourport Regatta in Worcestershire. Masters and Junior rowers brought home tankards as their reward for winning on the 1100m course on the river Severn.

Strong competition was encountered with crews being beaten in hard fought finals however, Octavia Shore and Megan Griffiths Tucker won their first trophies in the Women’s Junior 13 double sculls. Jake Freer-Smith took the J17 single sculls win and also rowed in the triumphant J18 quad scull with Jess Twigg, Oliver Smith and visiting French student Henri Charrin. With a slight change of crew, Chelsi Hanlon taking over from Jess Twigg, the quad won again in Sunday’s J18 quad race.

Winners of the Women’s J15 coxed quad were Lucy Perkins, Ellie Jones, Emmelia Allen, Molly Paton and cox Sarah Fearnall. Demonstrating that rowing is for all ages The Mixed Masters E coxed 4 with club captain Jane Sweeney at bow also collected winning tankards.
