Adam storms the Boston Marathon
The annual marathon organised by Boston Rowing Club from Lincoln to Boston on the river Witham is the ultimate endurance challenge and not for the faint heated. There are a number of obstacles to overcome on the 31 mile course besides the obvious fatigue. A seven mile row, dense river weed sapping the energy, carry your boat around a lock, then a further 24 miles to the finish.
We had two entries from Royals in this years race, Peter Jarvis in Master H 1x and Adam Wilson in Masters G 1x. Peter finished in 4.46.37 hrs, second in his status and in a time only 5 seconds shy of the record set in 2002. Adam stormed the course in a new record of 4.09.19 hrs coming eleventh overall (yes that's all categories) and second fastest single sculler, beaten only by a Senior 1x. Adam giving him 40 years!
Well done Adam.
