SilverSkiff 2025: Race Report
On Sunday 9th November Ben Parsonage took part in SilverSkiff, a 11km race on the River Po in Turin, Italy, The race consists of a 5.5km up stream, navigating around a buoy and rowing back down stream, meaning the start and finish line are the same. SilverSkiff is a highly competitive event attracting elite scullers from all over the world and this year was no exception with 702 entries and entries from athletes such as Team GB Lauren Henry (Olympic and word champion), Martin Sinković (Croatian, triple olympic champion), and Gabriel Soares (Italian olympic silver medalist).
Travelling to Turin with Ben was his coach Christopher Parsonage and fellow Clyde based rower Ben Huckle (SUBC). As Ben Parsonage competed in this event last year, he received a starting position based off his previous result starting off in 13th at 9:03.20am; meaning Ben and Chris could relax and eat lunch over looking the Po while watching Ben Huckle taking to the course!
Ben competed in the Men’s Lightweight Single and crossed the finish line in a very respectable: 42:29.093. This time placed him 1st in the Men’s Lightweight Single and 15th place overall – congratulations Ben and Christopher!
