Cal women’s crew rows to NCAA title

Powered by gold medals in the varsity eight and varsity four, Cal won its second women’s rowing national title in three years and fourth overall Saturday in rainy Sarasota, Fla.

“Everyone sees the glory day, but it’s been a long time coming — a lot of hard work,” said senior Mia Croonquist, who was the seven-seat in the Bears’ varsity eight. “This was a total team effort with everyone bought in and giving their all every day. We worked hard for this all year and for it to happen now is just surreal.”

Cal won the overall team title with a total of 130 points. Washington, winners of the second varsity eight, finished second with 128 points.
