Newletter Week 11

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break!

This Week:

Wednesday: We will be meeting at 1pm in County Bar for lunch and a chat. Please return any club gear you may have. We will then be heading down to the wall for 2pm

Things to look out for:

Winter Skills Trip 2.0: We will be running a joint winter skills trip with the hikers to the Cairngorms in Scotland from the 27th - 29th January. The trip will cost £60, which will include return transport, 2 nights in a campsite, all the mountaineering equipment you will need, and winter skills tuition from a qualified winter leader. Currently, the trip is full, although we are looking to hire an extra instructor and minibus because of the high demand. If we create more spaces, here's the sign-up link:  http://lusu.co.uk/groups/hiking-club-c4a0/events/hiking-and-mountaineering-winter-skills-trip-in-aviemore-the-cairngorms-27-1-17

Hustings: Wednesday 25th January (Week 12). 8pm on campus in Bowland Seminar Room 22. If you are interested in running for a position start thinking about what you might want to say, and how you would run the club. Don't worry, speeches only need to be 2 minutes! You are more than welcome to message a current exec to find out more about a position. Even if you don't want to run for a position, you can still come along to support your friends and the club.
It is really important to have an exec for the club to run, so if you are interested in climbing please do consider it. We currently know of 3 people interested, so if you are please give us a heads up. Being on the exec gives you the chance to help plan trips and socials, as well as deciding what new gear the club buys.

Positions up for grabs:
President
Vice-President / Secretary
Treasurer
Safety and Gear Officer (may be split into 2 positions if there is enough interest)
Media and Web Master
Social Secretaries * 2

Weekend Away: 24th Feb - 26th Feb. We are running a weekend trip to the Peak District this term. This is always a great weekend of climbing and mountaineering. It will cost roughly £35, which includes transport, accommodation in a hut, and meals on the Saturday & Sunday. More details and sign up will be out soon.

Happy climbing,
The Exec
