Climb, walk, get to know the VP’s and have a meal at the Sports Club

The Coniston fells are a superb walking and climbing  area which we don’t visit as often as the fells in the immediate vicinity of our own huts. These include Dow Crag, Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam and so on. We recently celebrated the publication of the first FRCC climbing guide to Dow Crag with a shiny new version.

This is a traditional meet and is a great social opportunity to get to know some of the shady characters that make up your committee.  For aspirants and associates it is equally an opportunity to let other members get to know you. There will be meal in the Sports and Social centre on Saturday evening plus whatever daytime activities the VP’s decide to arrange.

Accommodation is booked in a very comfortable hut, Low House, belonging to the MAM but  places are  limited so you need to book ASAP.  Camping  is reserved for vans on the Sport and Social club field and there is also a big campsite in Coniston centre.  Raw Head is about 25 minutes drive away.

Accomodation – 19 places are booked at the MAM Hut: Low House, Coniston, Cumbria LA21 8ER for Fri 20 and Sat 21 June 2025 (Grid ref SO 302 974)

HUT FEES – per Person/night : Kindred club members £13.00; their guests £17.00; MAM

members £9.00

Also 6 camper van places at the Sports and social Club £12.50/night per person.

Meal – The meal will be in the Social club

Main course – £15 / head

Chicken curry rice and with naan bread and Mango chutney.(Veg Curry option available)
Beef Lasagne salad and Garlic bread. ( Veg option available)
Pie mash and peas with Gravy. (Meat and potato, and  cheese and onion available)

Pudding options – additional £3/head

Apple crumble and custard
Baked cheesecake with berries and cream.

MAM  Hut and meal – please book by email with Erica Bradley   (ejb148@hotmail.com) Include your menu choices with your booking.
Erica will acknowledge your booking for hut and meal . Payment for the meal will be to the FRCC.   Please pay the FRCC as soon as your booking is acknowledged by Erica and then confirm that you have paid to Erica. We need you to tell us that you have paid to be able to order your food.
