Celebrating Our Major Events of the Fall Season
Summit Bid Silent Auction
The Summit Bid is our annual fundraiser, dating back to 2019, where we raise funds each year for charitable causes to improve our mountain community. For 2024, all proceeds from the silent auction went to benefit the ACC Sustainable Energy Projects and the ACMG’s Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund.
Together, we helped raise over $60,000 — thank you!
Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund
The Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund exists to provide ACMG members, staff, and volunteers with a source of emergency funding in the event of a personal crisis. Many ACMG members work independently and do not have access to the same benefits as employees.
ACC Sustainable Energy Projects
This project aims to incorporate many technologies intended to reduce the overall carbon footprint of each hut, and increase huts’ longevity. These technologies include construction materials with insulated panels, solar power, wind power, and an electrical system that can be remotely monitored from the ACC’s office in Canmore.
ACC Presidents’ Dinner
Past ACC President Peter Fuhrmann celebrated his 90th birthday last year around this time by gathering past ACC presidents and community members together. It was such a warmly received event that we decided to bring back the gathering for 2024 as the “Presidents’ Dinner.” This year, we enjoyed a wonderful meal in the company of so many friendly faces who have helped shape the ACC.
Summit Shaker
What’s the Summit Shaker? In short: It’s an in-person event to celebrate our mountain community! In the past, we’ve hosted the Mountain Guides Ball. For 2024, while continuing to honour our new and current Mountain Guides, we’ve expanded the scope to include our broader mountain community. None of us can exist independently of each other, so the Summit Shaker exists to celebrate our collective accomplishments.

Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival
This is always such a fun time of year for us! We’ve been a partner with the Banff Festivals from the beginning and it continues to be an experience we look forward to annually. Here are a few highlights from the 2024 festival:
Grand Prize Book Award
Supporting, producing, and appreciating mountain literature is a big part of the ACC, so we’re thrilled to sponsor the Phyllis and Don Munday Award as the grand prize of the book festival. This year, we celebrate our winner: Crossings: How Road Ecology Is Shaping the Future of Our Planet by Ben Goldfarb—congrats, Ben!
Marketplace
We always enjoy meeting and seeing our community members! This year, we had an ACC and Shadow Lake Lodge booth, shared with Girls on Ice Canada. There have been big, exciting changes to SLL, so it was great to see the enthusiasm as we shared the new operating model. Additionally, Rab stepped up to offer a giveaway at our booth for any hardshell top and bottom! It was a fun time, and we’re so glad we were there.
Happy Hour
Wow, this one was busy! We teamed up with YETI and collaborated on a Rambler mug featuring the iconic Mt. Louis! Unsurprisingly, it was popular and sold out in under 30 minutes. We also had some amazing raffle prizes. Thanks to YETI, Wild Rose Brewery, Core Values Cider!
Proceeds from Happy Hour went to support the ACC’s sustainable energy projects at our backcountry huts, and together we raised over $8,000—thank you!
Well, that’s a wrap! We’re all going to catch up on some much-needed rest while we reflect on all the fun times.
