Nine Medals for Great Britain at the 2025 Montreal Junior Panamerican Cup
It was an outstanding day for our GB juniors at the Montreal Junior Pan American Cup yesterday, as they delivered exceptional performances and secured an impressive nine medals.
In the –60kg category, Joseph Buchanan (Sportif) claimed a superb silver medal, with Laurence Hill (Dragons Academy) joining him on the podium for bronze. Rhys Clydesdale (JC Esprit) narrowly missed out with a 5th-place finish, while Coen Gilbert (Sportif) also put in a solid performance to take 7th.
In the –48kg division, Alexis Buchanan (Sportif) added to the team’s success with a well-earned bronze medal.
The –52kg category saw two GB judoka on the podium: Harriet Jones (Pro Judo) secured silver, while Jocelyn Callaghan (Destination Judo) took bronze.
A standout performance came in the –73kg field, where Eden Heffernan (Pro Judo) dominated his category to take gold. He was joined on the podium by Jack MacLeod (Garioch JC), who earned bronze, with Ben Moore (Bradley Stoke JC) finishing 5th after a strong run.
In the –63kg category, Sunny Doig (Just Judo Yoshin) delivered a determined performance to finish 7th.
Another gold came courtesy of Arad Ghafoorirad (Pro Judo) in the –90kg division, who produced a faultless day of judo, winning every contest by ippon from the Round of 16 all the way to the final.
Rounding off the medal tally, Jaden Calder (JC Esprit) secured a hard-fought bronze in the –100kg category, while Kevin Gordon (Hibari Kan JC) delivered an impressive showing to finish 5th, just shy of the podium.
It was an outstanding day for our juniors, and we look forward to seeing what they can deliver at the Montreal Pan American Open this weekend!
