Statement: Jamie Johnson
British Judo wishes to inform members of the conclusion of the recent independent disciplinary process concerning Olympic Coach Jamie Johnson, following the investigation conducted by Sport Resolutions into allegations relating to the culture within the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP).
The independent Disciplinary Panel, chaired by an independent Solicitor and members of two other National Governing Bodies, reviewed in full the findings of the Sport Resolutions investigation, together with all supporting evidence and submissions from all parties involved.
After a thorough and fair consideration of all the evidence, the Panel determined that the allegations of bullying and intimidation were not substantiated, and therefore no disciplinary sanction has been imposed.
While no misconduct was established, the process identified valuable opportunities for reflection and development for both Mr Johnson and British Judo as an organisation.
In line with the Panel’s recommendations, British Judo will continue to strengthen its approach to communication, wellbeing, and holistic professional development across the performance environment. This includes enhancing support mechanisms for both athletes and coaching staff and ensuring clarity of expectations within high-performance programmes.
We would like to record our sincere thanks to all of the athletes, coaching staff, and other contributors who came forward to share their experiences during the Sport Resolutions investigation and the disciplinary process.
We recognise that speaking up about personal or professional experiences can be extremely difficult, particularly within a high-performance environment, and we are grateful for the honesty and courage shown by all those who participated.
British Judo remains committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and supportive culture in which all individuals feel able to raise concerns and have them addressed fairly.
