Six Coaches Appointed as England Judo Associate Coaches
England Judo is delighted to announce the appointment of six highly respected coaches who will begin their roles as England Judo Associate Coaches.
The new appointees are:
- Lucy Renshall
- Gregg Varey
- Max Stewart
- Danny Williams
- Nicole Nunn
- Giorgi Vazagashvili (starting in December 2025)
These appointments will strengthen the England Talent Development Programme, which plays a key role in supporting athletes on their journey from cadet through to senior international competition. The Associate Coaches will work closely with the England Lead Coach, clubs, and personal coaches to deliver high-quality technical and tactical coaching, oversee domestic and international camps and competitions, and provide development opportunities for England athletes.
The programme ensures alignment with both British Judo and Sport England objectives, helping to grow competitive judo in England and build a sustainable pathway for future success.
Chair of England Judo Garth Illingworth commented on the six new appointments to the programme:
“We are thrilled to welcome Lucy, Gregg, Max, Danny, Nicole, and Giorgi to the England coaching team. Each brings exceptional experience, knowledge, and passion for judo, and their appointments mark an exciting step forward in our commitment to athlete development.”
