EJU Releases Eligibility Criteria for Athletes with Disabilities
The European Judo Union (EJU) has published new eligibility criteria for athletes with disabilities wishing to compete in Adapted Judo tournaments.
These guidelines ensure fair and inclusive opportunities for judoka with a range of eligible impairments – including physical, intellectual, autism spectrum disorder, visual, and (for U15 categories) hearing impairments. Clear standards for age groups, medical documentation, and eligibility assessment have also been outlined to provide a safe and equitable competition environment across Europe.
British Judo fully supports these updates, which reflect our shared commitment to inclusivity, integrity, and fairness in the sport. We encourage our clubs, coaches, and athletes to familiarise themselves with the new criteria and to reach out if guidance is needed on the registration and eligibility process.
