Jemima Yeats-Brown Nominated for Athlete of the Month
British Judo is thrilled to celebrate Jemima Yeats-Brown’s nomination for the British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) Athletes’ Athlete of the Month for July 2025.
Mima’s recognition comes after a remarkable comeback on the international stage, where she captured gold in the -70kg category at the Tallinn European Open. Competing for the first time since the Paris Olympics – and following a determined recovery from knee surgery – she produced a flawless series of performances to claim the top spot on the podium.
This nomination is a testament not only to her exceptional judo skills but also to her resilience and dedication to the sport. Returning from a long-term injury is no easy feat, yet Mima showed the heart of a true judoka (on several occasions!), seizing her opportunity to shine against Europe’s elite.
The Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award is voted for by current and former elite British athletes, making this nomination particularly special. To be recognised by her peers highlights the respect she commands within the sporting community.
Mima joins a shortlist alongside windsurfer Andy Brown, boccia star Sally Kidson, and shooter Ben Llewellin. The winner will be announced following a vote by BEAA members, who represent over 40 sports across the UK.
From everyone at British Judo, we extend our congratulations to Jemima on this well-earned nomination – and we’ll be cheering her on as the votes come in!
