Three Medals for Camberley Contingent at Taipei Asian Open

Three medals were secured by the Camberley Judo Club contingent at the Taipei Asian Open this weekend, while a squad of British juniors gained valuable experience in a tough field at the Paks Junior European Cup.

Taipei Asian Open

Rory Tyrrell (Camberley JC) produced the standout performance of the weekend for GB in the -81kg category, claiming a well-earned silver medal after a strong day on the mat.

Tyrrell cruised through the pool stages and maintained his form in the semi-final to book a place in the final. Although he narrowly missed out on gold, the result marks his first international medal of 2025, adding to his previous two 7th-place finishes at European events this year.

In the -66kg category, Finlay Allan (Camberley JC) added a bronze medal to his 2025 collection. With a bronze already secured in Dubrovnik and a silver in Riga earlier this year, Allan’s consistent form continues to impress on the international stage.

The third British medal in Taipei came from Harry Le Mare (Camberley JC) in the -73kg category, as he picked up his first international medal of the year. It’s a strong step forward for Le Mare, who will no doubt be looking to carry this momentum into his nextt events.

Paks Junior European Cup

It was a tough weekend for the British team at the Paks Junior European Cup, with no medals secured despite strong efforts across the categories by all six British competitors. While results didn’t go our way this time, the event provided valuable international experience for our young judoka as they continue their development on the Junior European circuit
