Yeats-Brown and Goginashvili Lead GB Medal Haul in Tallinn and Prague

0 4

It was an outstanding weekend for GB judoka on the international stage in Tallinn and Prague, with a total of seven medals secured and proudly brought home.

Starting with our sole gold medal at the Tallinn European Open, it was Jemima Yeats-Brown (Stewart JA) who delivered in the -70kg category, and on her birthday, no less. This marked her first competition since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Yeats-Brown put on a flawless performance, cruising through the rounds with ease before confidently securing the top spot on the podium. It was an inspiring return to action, a powerful statement of resilience after injury, and the perfect way to launch into the new Olympic cycle.

Taking his first Senior European Open silver medal was Ethan Nairne (Bradley Stoke JC) in the -73kg category, earning his first medal of 2025.

It was a strong performance and hopefully the beginning of a consistent run of form, where he can work towards stepping onto the top of the podium.

There was a second silver for Great Britain at this event, this time for Acelya Toprak (Camberley JC), who came agonisingly close to taking gold in the -57kg category.

She pushed her final opponent into golden score and battled for almost seven minutes before eventually being thrown for yuko.

This was a fantastic way to restart her GB medal-winning journey, taking her first British-represented medal since 2022.

Max Gregory (Drake JC) took the third and final silver medal for Great Britain in the -100kg category, marking his second appearance on a European podium this year as he steadily builds form and momentum.

Summer Shaw (Camberley JC) was the next of our judoka in Tallinn to step onto the podium, securing bronze and her first medal of 2025 in the -48kg category.

As she makes the move into the senior divisions, she’ll be looking to replicate the outstanding success she enjoyed in the junior categories throughout 2024.

Ollie Barratt (Dragons Academy) finished in seventh place in the -100kg category, showing, alongside Gregory, that Great Britain has some exciting emerging talent in this weight division.

Moving onto the Prague Junior European Cup, where there was more success for Great Britain.

Irakli Goginashvili (Palavani) was GB’s standout performer in Prague, taking gold in the -73kg category as he continues his outstanding form in 2025.

Having already secured one gold and two bronzes this year across junior and senior European events, Goginashvili is proving to be a constant threat wherever he competes, and always an exciting judoka to watch.

Chloe Link (Relentless JC) is one of GB’s most in-form judoka, and her medal-winning streak continues.

She extended it to four consecutive events with a silver medal in Prague, building on her previous three bronzes. This result marks a step up and shows the progress she’s making in the -57kg category.

We can’t wait to see her continue to develop and show us what she’s capable of.

Congratulations to all who medalled this weekend!
