Our World Class Performance Programme are recruiting for three exciting positions to help the team on the path to the Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028.
We are looking to appoint a National Training Centre Coach, an Olympic Programme Coach and England Judo Programme Coaches (x3) with all positions now live and accepting applications.
National Training Centre Coach
Department: Performance
Salary: Grade 3
Reports To: Performance Director
Direct Reports: None
Key Relationships: Performance Director, Performance Pathway & Operations Director, GB Home Nations Coach, World Class Programme Coaches, Head Paralympic Coach, Home Nation Coaches, Club Coaches, Sport Science Sport Medicine Team.
Location: British Judo National Training Centre, Walsall.
British Judo is looking for an experienced and passionate National Training Centre Coach to join our Performance Team and help shape the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic medal-winning athletes.
As part of the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP), you will work closely with national coaches, support staff, and athletes to deliver consistent, high-quality coaching. You’ll help support athletes’ individual development, especially when lead coaches are overseas or athletes are returning from injury.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support fighters when their lead coach is overseas.
- Provide support for the Coaching Team when returning from overseas.
- Support fighters returning from injury.
- Support communication across team for effective implementation of programme.

Olympic Programme Coach
Department: Performance
Salary: Grade 4 – (Salary and grade reflect the expected international travel and time away from home).
Reports To: Performance Director
Direct Reports: None
Key Relationships: Performance Director, Performance Pathway & Operations Director, GB Home Nations Coach, World Class Programme Coaches, Head Paralympic Coach, Home Nation Coaches, Club Coaches, Sport Science Sport Medicine Team.
Location: British Judo National Training Centre, Walsall (with significant domestic and international travel up to 150 days a year)
British Judo is seeking a high-performing Olympic Programme Coach to help deliver its World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) for Olympic athletes. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of international judo, supporting the development of medal-winning athletes on the world stage.
As part of the World Class Programme Coaching Team, you will help drive Olympic Potential Programme delivery, working closely with coaches, athletes, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve success at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver British Judo’s Olympic performance strategy alongside the WCPP coaching team.
- Lead the coaching and development of Olympic Potential Programme athletes.
- Design and oversee Individual Athlete Plans (IAPs) through a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Provide technical and tactical coaching to athletes preparing for Olympic qualification.
- Collaborate with Home Nation and club coaches to ensure alignment across the performance pathway.
- Use data insights to inform coaching decisions and track athlete progression.

England Programme Coach (x 3)
Department: Performance
Reports To: England Lead Coach.
Engagement Basis: Self-employed (Associate)
Fee: £150 per day.
Expected Commitment: Circa 50 days per year
Key Relationships: England Lead Coach, Club & Personal Coaches, England Athletes, GB HN Coach, Home Nation Coaches, Performance Manager, Senior Pathway Administrator, Performance Director, Performance Pathway & Operations Director.
British Judo is seeking experienced, self-employed judo coaches to join our new Pool of England Programme Associate Coaches. This pool will provide a flexible but high-performing resource to support our national and international England Performance Pathway programmes.
As an Associate Coach, you may be invited to contribute to national training camps, squad preparation activities, domestic competitions, or international trips, working with athletes on the Pre-Cadet, Cadet, and Junior pathways. Your involvement will support our overarching goals of Olympic and Commonwealth success, athlete-centred development, and coaching excellence.
This is not a contract of employment, and inclusion in the pool does not guarantee work. However, selected Associates may be called upon for up to 50 days of coaching activity per year, based on programme needs and availability. Engagements will be ad hoc, self-employed, and subject to defined scopes of work.
We are looking for coaches who:
- Have a proven track record of working with developing performance athletes aged 12–20.
- Hold the minimum qualifications outlined in the role specification (including Level 2 coaching, first aid, safeguarding, and UKAD training).
- Are confident operating in high-performance, multi-coach environments.
- Can uphold and model the values and behaviours of British Judo, including respect, inclusion, and integrity.
- Are able to travel and work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and occasional international assignments.
