British Judoka Set for Action in Sarajevo and Graz
This weekend promises a thrilling showcase of judo talent as British athletes head to two major international competitions across Europe.
A strong contingent of 23 British judoka will be competing at the Senior European Cup in Sarajevo, Bosnia while five more will be in action at the European Open in Graz.
Graz Challenge: European Open
Five Brits will mix it up in Austria with the Graz Junior European Open attracting a mix of experienced internationals and rising stars, offering a crucial testing ground for the team.
Fresh off topping the podium in Kaunas last week, Ben Levy (Budokwai) will be back in the -73kgs after the 20-year-old claimed his second Gold medal of the year in Lithuania.
Eryk Neumann (Hardy Spicer 83) will be hoping to carry over his form from Kaunas after he claimed Bronze for the third successive year in Lithuania in -81kg category.
Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy) was back in the medals last week in the -52kg competition and will be looking to add to her already impressive collection of podium finishes this year. She secured her fourth medal of 2025 last weekend following Bronze in Poznan and Tunis Junior Opens, and Gold in the Senior event in Tunis.
Following a close-fought Bronze medal contest in Poznan, Charlotte Jenman (Ryecroft Judo Club) found herself on the wrong side of the result as she looks to secure her first medal of the year. Having spent 18 months at her new weight of -57kg, she will be looking to make her mark on a competitive division as she aims for her first podium finish of the year.
Having only made her international debut at last year’s Birmingham Junior European Cup, Abigail Guest (Wolverhampton Judo Club) is just three competitions into her young career. Her best result came in her debut event in Birmingham as she narrowly missed out on a medal.
Sarajevo Spotlight: Senior European Cup
The Bosnian capital hosts a key event on the European circuit and there will be a sizeable contingent of 23 Brits heading over with eyes on medals. The Sarajevo edition of the European Cup presents an exciting opportunity for emerging talents to gain valuable international experience and challenge for podium spots.
In the lighter weights, –60kg sees Nordine Adrif, Benjamin Caldwell and Ross Dempsey in action, while the -66kg category features a quartet of judoka including Neil MacDonald, Lewis Fryer, Cameron Foster and James Gray. A strong presence at –73kg includes brothers Alexander and Oliver Short, as well as Harry Le Mare, Tommy Jackson and Daniel Pacitti.
The –81kg group is represented by Rory Tyrell, Logan Campbell, and Jacob Callaghan, with Cameron Reid-Thomas and Spencer Lambert entered at –90kg. Rounding out the men’s team is Gregor Miller as he takes on the –100kg division.
The women’s side features Chloe Robyns-Landricombe at –57kg, Roxanna Proctor and Tomi Imrie at –63kg, and Holly Devall competing in the –70kg category.
