2025 Cadet European Championships Squad Named
The British Judo Association is proud to reveal the talented young judoka selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming 2025 Cadet European Championships, taking place from 26–29 June in Skopje, North Macedonia.
After a competitive selection process across domestic and international events, the Identification Panel has confirmed a strong and diverse squad from across the Home Nations, showcasing the next generation of elite British judo talent.
Sara Coni (-44kg) Camberley Judo Club
A dynamic lightweight with strong technical precision, Sara has earned her place through consistent performance at national level, representing the powerhouse Camberley Judo Club. She is one of the team’s most in-form fighters having placed in her last three competitions, highlighted by topping the podium in Genova in February.
Maisie Broadley (-44kg) Wirral Judo Club
Maisie brings a sharp competitive edge and tactical awareness, honed through her development at Wirral Judo Club in the North West. Maisie will be making her debut in the Cadet European Championships and will be looking to gain experience in his biggest event to date.
Taylor Chrisp (-48kg) Blyth Judo Michi
Taylor is known for her aggressive style and determination on the tatami. Hailing from Blyth Judo Michi, she’s proven a tough competitor in the domestic circuit. She is entering her second year at Cadet level and will be looking to build on experience gained at last year’s event.
Lexi Buchanan (-48kg) Sportif Judo
Lexi is one of Scotland’s brightest cadet prospects. With a solid foundation from the renowned Sportif Judo club, she brings both skill and spirit. She regularly fights her way onto the podium on a domestic level, but will be looking to make the step and challenge Europe’s finest.
Lucy Robinson (-52kg) Kin Ryu Judo Club
Lucy is one of three athletes selected from Kin Ryu and has been fighting regularly on the Cadet circuit for the past three years. She will be looking for that elusive Gold medal missing from her Cadet career to date, with Silver medals won in Montreal and Riga, and Bronze medals won in Montreal and Riga so far.
Maisie Shattock (-57kg) Bacup Judo Club
Maisie stands out for her resilience and strong groundwork. Competing for Bacup, she has earned respect for her disciplined and effective fighting style.
Coen Gilbert (-50kg) Sportif Judo
Another rising star from Scotland’s Sportif dojo, Coen combines speed and strategy and has shown promising form at recent events. Two medals to open up 2025 at Porec and Samorin has underlined his credentials to be a force at this Championship.
David Gheorghiu (-60kg) Nippon Judo Club
David brings flair and intensity to every match, representing the respected Nippon Judo Club. He will be making his debut at the Championship and will be looking to secure his first medal at Cadet level.
Jack Milligan (-60kg) Wirral Judo Club
Training alongside fellow squad member Maisie Broadley, Jack has built a reputation for his technical maturity and match awareness, and will be looking to join his fellow team mate on the podium in Skopje.
Samuel Tang (-60kg) Kin Ryu Judo Club – Non-travelling reserve
Although not heading to Skopje, Samual’s inclusion as reserve is a testament to his growth and potential, with Kin Ryu supporting his continued progress.
Viktor Andriichuik (-66kg) Camberley Judo Club
An explosive fighter with European experience, Viktor is another Camberley standout, known for his powerful throws and tenacity.
Vasiliy Menshykov (-66kg) Garioch Judo Club
Representing Garloch, Vasiliy has impressed with his composure and technique. He’s one to watch in the -66kg division having impressed in earlier competitions.
Lenny Tancock (-73kg) Bishops Stortford Judo Club
Lenny’s physicality and tactical approach have earned him strong finishes this season. His place on the team reflects consistent progress having medalled consistently across the domestic scene with that form transferring onto the international circuit with a Silver in Porec in March.
Luka Gigilashvili (-73kg) Palivani Judo Club
Luka adds flair and versatility to the -73kg category. Training out of Palivani, he’s built a name for high-impact performances.
Peter Crawford (-90kg) Kin Ryu Judo Club
At the top end of the weight classes, Peter is a formidable presence with great grip work and control. Representing Kin Ryu, he’s ready to make his European debut.
