GB Veterans Ready for Action in Warsaw
Four British veterans will compete at the Warsaw Veteran European Cup this weekend, taking place from Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th April.
It’s a quiet weekend for British Judo on the international stage, with just one squad of athletes heading abroad, as a small selection of veterans make their way to Poland.
Tibor Banyai (Honto Judo) is entered in the -73kg M2 category. Banyai impressed at the recent British Veterans Open, taking gold, and will be looking to carry that momentum into Warsaw.
Adam Stevens (Goole Judo Club) will contest the -81kg M1 division. He’s in strong form, having claimed silver at both the Riga Veteran European Cup in February and the British Veterans Open in March.
Winston Ginsberg (Budokwai) is set to compete in the -90kg M6 category.
Caroline Brayson (Pudsey Judo Club) will represent GB in the -63kg F2 category. Brayson had a standout 2024, earning a bronze at the World Veterans Championships in Las Vegas and placing 7th at the European Championships in June. She’s started 2025 strong with silver at the British Veterans Open and will be aiming to use her experience to her advantage this weekend.
In the Ne-Waza events, Brayson returns in the -63kg (F1–F3) division, while Stevens and Banyai will also feature again in the -81kg (M1–M3) bracket.
Best of luck to all the athletes competing!
