British Judokas Bring Home Medals from Dubrovnik, Poznań, and Panama
British Judokas enjoyed a hugely successful weekend, securing impressive results at the 2025 Dubrovnik Senior European Cup, Poznań Junior European Cup, and Panama Cadet Panamerican Cup.
Dubrovnik Senior European Cup 2025
Kelly Petersen-Pollard (Hardy Spicer 83) delivered the standout performance of the event, dominating the -70kg category to claim gold in Dubrovnik. Her impressive form, which has already seen her take bronze at the Warsaw European Open and a 7th place finish at the Tbilisi Grand Slam earlier this year, sets a strong tone as she prepares to represent British Judo at the European Championships.
In the men’s competition, Michael Fryer (Rush Judo) delivered an impressive performance in the -66kg category, securing silver, his first podium finish of 2025. This result will stand him in good stead as he prepares for Podgorica and his debut at the European Championships in a couple of weeks. He was joined on the podium by Finlay Allan (Camberley JC) who claimed bronze in the same division.
Benjamin Caldwell (Camberley JC) made it onto the podium, earning bronze in the -60kg division in his second international event of 2025. Wesley Greenidge (Enfield JC) rounded off the men’s medal haul with bronze in the +100kg category, marking his second bronze of the year after previously finishing 3rd at the Podgorica Senior European Cup.
Elsewhere, several British judoka delivered strong performances. Jamal Petgrave (Westcroft JC) fought his way to 5th place in the -90kg division but was unfortunately unable to compete for bronze due to injury. Despite the setback, it was a promising result, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Max Gregory (Drake JC) also finished 5th in the -100kg category.
In the -73kg division, Ethan Nairne (Bradley Stoke JC) was the top British competitor, finishing 7th, while Ross Dempsey (Clyde JC) secured 7th place in the -60kg category.
The women also saw more success with Lanina Solley (Camberley JC) finishing 7th in the -57kg category.
Poznan Junior European Cup 2025
Irakli Goginashvili (Palavani) delivered another standout performance, securing gold in the highly competitive -73kg category. This adds to his already impressive 2025 medal tally, which includes two bronzes in the past month. He was joined in the top seven by Ben Levy (Budokwai), who secured 5th place in the same division, continuing his strong 2025 form. This year, he’s already claimed gold at the Warsaw European Open and earned a spot for his first European Championships in just a couple of weeks.
In the women’s competition, Lola Hodson (Dragons Academy) claimed a bronze medal in the -52kg category, while her WCPP teammate Chloe Link (Relentless Judo) also stepped onto the podium with a bronze in the -57kg division, a fantastic weekend for both athletes.
Link wasn’t the only British success in the -57kg category. Charlotte Jenman (Tonbridge JC) put in an impressive performance in her first competition back after a long-term injury, finishing 5th, a testament to her hard work and recovery. Madeleine Birri (Ealing JC) rounded out the British presence in this category with a strong 7th-place finish.
Elsewhere, Nicole Wood (Bishops Stortford) secured 5th place in the -78kg category, while Olivia Delahunty (Newbury JC) took 7th place in the -63kg division.
In the men’s -66kg category, Charlie Ayre (Tees Valley Judo) put in a strong performance to secure 7th place.
Panama Cadet Panamerican Cup 2025
It was an all-Ealing Judo Club squad in Panama, with the West London team bringing home two medals.
Robyn Davies took gold in the -63kg category, while Aleksandra Dudko secured silver in the -57kg division, rounding off a strong competition for the club.
Congratulations to all the athletes who competed this weekend!
