Lucy Scott Finishes Tenure as CEO of Welsh Judo

After two years leading the team and achieving significant growth and success for the sport, Lucy Scott finished her tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Welsh Judo at the end of 2024 to embark on a new challenge.

Since joining the Welsh Judo Association in September 2022, Lucy has been instrumental in the transformational landscape across the organisation, by leading on cultural change to ensure that the new strategy, which significantly focuses on participation and growing the sport, can be achieved.

Lucy delivered an operationally sound NGB that now services the community more efficiently, professionally and subsequently improved its reputation across the Welsh sporting sector, and on the international stage.

Lucy Scott said: “I came into this role appreciating that Judo is a values-based sport and I’m thrilled I was able to lead with real commitment to those values. Among my highlights within the role, I’m really proud of the work we did to launch the new strategy which will grow all areas of Judo by 2026, and I’m extremely happy to say that the licence holder numbers grew significantly, and that I leave the role knowing that significant growth was achieved and that there are robust policies and processes for my successor to move forward with.

“Thank you to everyone across the Welsh Judo landscape for welcoming me during my visits around the country and I wish everyone the best as I excitedly take on my next chapter.”

During her tenure, she led the team to deliver significant impacts across the organisation, and we thank her for that. She is definitely leaving the organisation in a better place, and we wish her all the best for whatever the rest of her career holds”.
