New national sponsor makes four-year commitment to financially support the development of young judokas

Judo Canada is proud to introduce its newest sponsor, Premium Group, who, over the next four years, will provide funding exclusively for junior athletes as they transition to the senior level.

“We’re very pleased with our agreement with Premium Group and its owner, Denis Collin. [Denis] has been involved in judo for many years, and this financial support will be a great help to our young athletes as they make the leap to the senior level. All the funds will go directly to the athletes, which will make a major difference for many of this country’s judokas,” said the CEO of Judo Canada, Nicolas Gill.

Founded in 2015 by Collin, Premium Group is based in Eastern Canada, more specifically in Moncton. The company is active in various construction sectors, thanks to its 80 employees.

“It’s one of my proudest achievements, and our slogan, “Built with Heart,” was largely inspired by the many years I spent in the judo community,” explained Collin.

The former national-level judoka has remained active in the sport. He currently co-owns two clubs in New Brunswick, where nearly 250 members train each week.

Collin, who was eager to contribute to the sport that has provided him with so much, wished to reach beyond his provincial borders.

“I went through some tough times in the past, and judo saved my life! So this is my way of paying it forward, and of upholding the values of judo that have helped me over the years, such as perseverance, tenacity, and respect,” said the businessman.

One thing is certain: Collin has high aspirations for the future, and strongly hopes his contribution will help a large number of athletes reach the highest levels of the sport.

“It was my dream to contribute to judo all across the country, so when this opportunity arose, I didn’t hesitate for a second! More than anything, I hope to be able to help Judo Canada accomplish great things. Many athletes require assistance in the transition from the junior to senior categories, and we want to give them every opportunity to reach their maximum potential,” he concluded.

Collin would love nothing more than to see even bigger Canadian delegations at future Olympic and Paralympic Games. His contribution is a solid first step in that direction!
