November Dan Grading Events Round-Up

Looking to earn your next grade? Look no further! Take a closer look at the Dan grading events happening across the UK this November.

 

Midlands Area Dan Grading – Kidderminster – 16 November 2024

Samurai Judo Club will host the next Samurai/Midlands dan grading on Saturday, November 16.

This event regularly attracts a strong field of high-ranking judoka, with male entrants up to 4th dan and female entrants up to 3rd dan already confirmed.

Currently, four women of 3rd-dan rank are registered, and with additional 3rd or 4th-dan entries, there is potential for grading line-ups to 4th-dan and 5th-dan.

High-grade female judoka are especially encouraged to attend to support these advanced line-ups.

Entry is available on the day for £25, but advance registration is recommended for a reduced fee of £20 via online entry until 10pm on Thursday, November 14.

Rushden Technical Dan Grading Course/Assessment – 16 and 17 November 2024

Higham and Rushden Judo Club will hold a Technical Dan Grading Course and Assessment on November 16-17, 2024, at its venue, 61 Newton Road, Rushden, NN10 0HF.

This event includes Competitive Skills preparation and exams, as well as kata instruction and assessments in Katame-no-kata, Nage-no-kata, and Itsutsu-no-kata, with each kata exam priced at £10.

Led by National Dan Grading Manager Dave Horton-Jones (7th Dan), candidates will work through the Technical Dan Grade Syllabus with continuous assessment for promotion.

Saturday’s session runs from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and Sunday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The course costs £50, with a £50 fee to register promotions. Prior registration is required due to limited spaces.

Southern Area/Kent Dan Grading – 17 November 2024

A Competitive Dan Grading for ranks from 1 Kyu to 4th Dan will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2024, at Dartford Judo Club, Cotton Lane, Stone, Dartford, DA2 6PD. Check-in will be at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am start.

The minimum age to participate is 15. If participation numbers allow, gradings specifically for Dan Grade Men, 1st Kyu/Dan Grade Women, and Masters will also be available.

Organized by the Southern Area Promotions Sub-committee, the event will feature international referees and first aid support at a purpose-built facility.

Candidates can also take Competitive Skills Theory exams on the day (1st and 2nd Dan at £10; 3rd and 4th Dan at £15) and Technical Dan Grading exams (£20 for 1st and 2nd Dan) with prior arrangement.

Advance registration is £25 online, or £30 for entry on the day.

London Area Dan Grading – 24 November 2024

Senior Judo gradings, overseen by Chief Instructor Peter Blewett, take place on the final Sunday of each month, excluding August and December, at The Budokwai.

The grading fee is £20 if paid through your account, or £25 otherwise. To set up a free online account, please click here.

Participants must bring a valid BJA licence on the day. Check-in begins at 11:30 am, with the first contest starting at 12:00 pm.

These gradings are open to 1st Kyu (brown belt) and above. Novices and lower grades should arrange their grading with their Sensei at their respective club.
