Judoka set for European Cadet Championships

The European Cadet Championships get underway in Sofia, Bulgaria tomorrow.

Over 500 judoka have entered the competition with 13 GB cadets set to compete in the Bulgarian capital city.

Thursday 27 June | -40, -44, -48 | -50, -55 -60

Scotland’s Eva Ewing (Whitburn) enters as 6th seed in the -44kg category. Ewing has been in fine form in 2024 having won silver at the Follonica and Berlin Cadet European Cups and bronze at the Fuengirola Cadet European Cup.

Completing in the -48kg category is Taylor Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) whilst in the -50kg category, Evan Anderson (Blyth Judo Michi) is joined by Coen Gilbert (Sportif).

Friday 28 June | -52, -57, -63 | -66, -73kg

Kate Chisolm (Judo Sensi London) and Zhaklin Satari (Rush Judo) both make their European Championship debuts in the -52kg and -57kg categories respectively.

Luka Gigilashvili (Palvani) has been selected for his second European Cadet Championships and will be joined in the -66kg category by Thomas Deniz (Pudsey).

Jack Macleod (Garioch) recorded a 7th place finish on his European tour debut in Fuengirola and will compete in the -73kg category alongside Lenny Tancock (Bishops Stortford).

Saturday 29 June | -70, +70 | -81, -90, +90

George Riley (High Wycombe Judo Centre) secured his selection by winning bronze at the Porec Cadet European Cup in March, and will be joined in the -90kg category by Kevin Gordon (Hibari Kan) who has recorded 7th place finishes at the Follonica and Fuengirola Cadet European Cups. Tara Nel Allan (Craven Judo Academy) competes in the -70kg category.

Unfortunately, Sara Coni (Camberley) has withdrawn due to injury.

Action at the European Cadet Championships starts at 7:30am (BST) on Thursday and Friday and 8:30am on Saturday with Final Block to follow at 4pm
