Obituary: Ruth White

It is with great sadness that we inform of the passing of Ruth White, one of our own.

Ruth was a long-serving member of Newbury Judo Club where her husband of 61 years, Tony, is Chairman.

She had been involved in judo for many years, initially taking the children to the judo club and competitions and then becoming more involved as a table official, working her way up and achieving the status of Competition Controller.

During her long career as a volunteer, Ruth regularly attended events throughout Great Britain and will be known by many. She also had the honour of officiating at European and World Championships, Commonwealth Games and many other high-ranking events. She with her husband Tony, ran the Army Championships for many years.

She was a wonderful servant of the Northern Home Counties Area and the British Judo Association and will be missed by many.

British Judo would like to pass on their condolences to Ruth’s family and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Ruth’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 21st November at 14:00 at the West Berkshire Crematorium, Bath Road, Thatcham, RG19 4LG. Dress code – smart casual.

The wake will be held at the Mercure Newbury West Grange Hotel, Cox’s Lane, Bath Road, Midgham, RG7 5UP.

The family kindly ask that any donations are make to the Alzheimers Society and that flowers are from family members.
