EJU Scientific Commission – Open Call for Candidates

The British Judo Association is pleased to share the details of the open call for candidates for the European Judo Union (EJU) Scientific Commission.

The EJU Scientific Commission plays a vital role in advancing the understanding and development of research topics in judo. As an integral part of the European Judo Union, the Scientific Commission promotes applicable research and explores various judo-relevant subjects.

All British Judo members and qualified individuals with a passion for judo research and the necessary expertise to contribute to advancing our sport are invited to put themselves forward as commission candidate. The selected candidates will have the valuable opportunity to collaborate with fellow researchers and experts from across Europe, fostering growth and innovation in judo.

Key Responsibilities of the EJU Scientific Commission:

• Conducting research in various fields related to judo, including but not limited to technique development, sports performance, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition, and injury prevention.
• Collaborating with other researchers and experts to develop innovative approaches, guidelines, and best practices in judo.
• Disseminating research findings through publications, presentations, and other suitable mediums.
• Supporting the EJU in evaluating and implementing scientific advancements in judo.
• Advising the EJU on scientific matters, including developing judo-specific training methods, injury prevention strategies, and athlete support programs.

Candidates interested in joining the EJU Scientific Commission should meet the following criteria:

• Hold a relevant academic degree (e.g., PhD, M.Sc.) in a judo or sports science field.
• Demonstrate a strong research background and a track record of publications or significant contributions to the field of judo research.
• Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Have a thorough understanding of the scientific method and research design.
• Be actively involved in the judo community as a coach, athlete, or researcher.
