Obituary: Derek Sidney Webster
British Judo is saddened to learn of the passing of Derek Sidney Webster
Derek dedicated 60 years of his life to judo and was awarded his 7th Dan in 2017 at Kelmscott Judo Club. Derek’s contribution to judo was wide-ranging, as well as setting up the Veteran’s Gradings Scheme (now Masters) with Jim Gillespie he ran several judo clubs where he coached. Derek was also a referee in the 80s and continued to be a London Area Senior Examiner up until his retirement in 2021.
Derek will be missed by everyone who’s life he touched and our thoughts and best wishes are with his family and friends
