0 7

The IBSA Grand Prix heads to Warwick this weekend in what will be the final Paralympic qualification event.

Being staged on 19-20th June at the University of Warwick Sports and Wellness Hub, this will be the final opportunity for Paralympic fighters to compete ahead of the Tokyo Paralympic Games this summer.

There will be six British fighters competing in Warwick, with all six due to compete on the final day of competition.

For the majority of the team this will be their first time competing on UK soil since the 2017 IBSA European Championships in Walsall which saw Chris Skelley crowned Champion.

Since being crowned European Champion, Skelley has progressed to now be ranked world number 1 in the -100kg category. Skelley competes for the first time since claiming silver at the recent IBSA Grand Prix in Baku.

Elliot Stewart is joined by Cameron Bradley in the -90kg category. World and European Championship bronze medallist, Stewart, recently finished 5th at the IBSA Grand Prix in Baku.

Meanwhile Bradley makes his Grand Prix debut some 16 months after he won gold at the VI Junior German Open in 2020.

Current European Championship bronze medallist, Jack Hodgson competes in the +100kg category. Hodgson recently finished 5th at the IBSA Grand Prix in Baku after returning from an elbow injury earlier in the year.

Dan Powell competes for the first time this year and is joined in the -81kg category by Evan Molloy. Molloy finished 7th at the IBSA Grand Prix, defeating world number 2 and London 2012 Paralympic Champion and Rio 2016 silver medallist, Dmytro Solovey (UKR) in the opening round.

The draw will be made on Friday 18th June at 20:30 (BST)

Preliminary Rounds are scheduled to start at 10:00am (BST) with Final Block due to start at 16:30 (BST)* on both days.

You can watch the draw and all the action live on the British Judo YouTube channel over the weekend

*Please note timings are due to change based upon final entries and will be confirmed at the draw.
