Local coaches stunned, saddened by judo star's death

Hatton, a 2013 Burnt Hills graduate, died on Tuesday, only four days after his 24th birthday. He was an Olympic hopeful in contention for a spot in the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.
Known as "Judo Jack," Hatton was also an accomplished wrestler who won a sectional title at 170 pounds his senior year at Burnt Hills.
At the time of his death, Hatton was training at Pedro's Judo Center in Wakefield, Mass. USA Judo announced his "unexpected passing" without mentioning a cause.
Pedro's Judo Center released a statement on Instagram urging anyone struggling with depression or their mental health to seek help. It also listed the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255).
