PENGUINS SIGN FORWARD DANIEL RUSSELL
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Daniel Russell to an American Hockey League contract starting in the 2026-27 season. Russell will join the Penguins immediately on an amateur tryout agreement.
Russell just completed a four-year collegiate career with Michigan State University. The Traverse City, Michigan native reached double-digits in goal-scoring in each of his last three seasons, and he produced 119 points (45G-74A) in 150 games with the Spartans.
Russell placed second on Michigan State with 22 assists and 30 points during his freshman campaign. He then proceeded to lead the club with seven game-winning goals during the 2024-25 season.
During his time at Michigan State, Russell won a pair of Big Ten Championships in 2024 and 2025. He was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team after scoring in both of the Spartans’ games en route to the 2024 title.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is tomorrow, Friday, Apr. 3, against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Game time between the Penguins and Phantoms is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Penguins have seven games left in the regular season before starting their run in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Postseason opponents and schedules are yet to be determined, but fans can cheer on the team throughout its entire playoff run by purchasing a Penguins Playoff Pack.
