Nanaimo Clippers’ Charles Beland Commits to NCAA Division I University of Alaska Anchorage

Nanaimo, BC — The Nanaimo Clippers are proud to announce that forward Charles Beland has committed to the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (NCAA Division I).

Beland, a 19-year-old forward from Trois-Rivières, Quebec, has been a key part of the Clippers’ lineup and has earned his opportunity at the Division I level through consistent performance, professionalism, and dedication to his development.

“I’m extremely grateful for my time in Nanaimo and everything the Clippers organization has done for me,” said Beland. “The coaching staff believed in me, pushed me every day, and created an environment that allowed me to grow both on and off the ice. I’m also very thankful for my teammates—I couldn’t have done it without them. I’m excited for the next step at Alaska Anchorage and grateful to everyone who helped me get there.”

Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Colin Birkas praised Beland’s character, approach to the game, and commitment to the developmental process.

“The BCHL continues to prove that it is a league that develops NCAA-calibre players,” said Birkas. “Charles has definitely earned this achievement, and we believe his commitment to staying the course in Nanaimo and in the BCHL—despite having other options—enhanced his opportunities at the NCAA level. Anchorage is getting an excellent player and student who is ready to take on the rigour of both the schedule and academic workload.”

Beland’s commitment highlights the Clippers’ continued success in developing players for NCAA hockey and reinforces the organization’s commitment to providing a proven pathway to the collegiate level.

The entire Nanaimo Clippers organization congratulates Charles and wishes him continued success with the Seawolves.
