Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hits midway point of 2025-26 season

Penguins (23-10-1-2) hosts its Winter Beach Weekend with Friday and Saturday home games

 

Weekly Rewind

Friday, Jan. 9 – PENGUINS 5 at Charlotte 1
Four points by Tristan Broz helped spearhead the Penguins’ offense and snap the team’s three-game losing streak. Broz’s linemates, Atley Calvert and Valtteri Puustinen, also had one goal and one assist each. Sergei Murashov made 21 saves.

Saturday, Jan. 10 – PENGUINS 1 at Charlotte 5
The Checkers flipped the script for the first home win in the season series, beating the Penguins by an identical score to Friday. Ryan Graves buried Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s lone goal on the power play with assists to Ville Koivunen and Valtteri Puustinen.

The Week Ahead

Wednesday, Jan. 14 – PENGUINS at Providence
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton opens the week with a marquee matchup against Providence. Wednesday’s bout will also mark the third time this season that the Penguins and B-Bruins go head-to-head with first place in the division and first place in the conference on the line. The Pens are 2-1-0-0 vs. Providence.

Friday, Jan. 16 – PENGUINS vs. Hartford
The Penguins host Hartford for a pair of back-to-back games on their Winter Beach Weekend. The first 1,500 fans on Friday will receive Penguins Margaritaville Sunglasses, $2 beers will be on sale from 6:00-7:30, and two Penguins players will stay after the game for postgame autographs.

Saturday, Jan. 17 – PENGUINS vs. Hartford
Mental Health Awareness Night marks the second game of Winter Beach Weekend. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is 3-1-0-0 against Hartford this season. Furthermore, the Wolf Pack haven’t beaten the Penguins at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza in their last seven tries, with their last win in NEPA coming on Mar. 26, 2023.

Ice Chips

– The Penguins are 17-3-1-1 (.818) when their penalty kill does not allow a goal.

– With his goal and three assists on Friday, Tristan Broz secured the first four-point game of his career and the first four-point game by a Penguin this season.

– The Penguins have used 42 different players this season, second-most in the entire AHL.

– Valtteri Puustinen’s next assist will be the 100th assist of his AHL career.
