Spruce Kings Take Game 3 in 3rd Period Comeback
Down two games in the series and 1-0 heading to the third period, the Prince George Spruce Kings turned the tables in 45 seconds to make it 2-1 and finished with a 3-1 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs to take Game 3.
After a scoreless first period that saw the Spruce Kings outshoot the Chiefs 16-6, Chilliwack opened the scoring with just 1:17 remaining in the period as Caleb Malhotra deflected a Lucas Sorace point shot past Charles Gravel.
In the third period, Maks Percic went to his partner Brendan Gillmore who spotted Brock Cummings and sent him in on a breakaway. Cummings went backhand, forehand, backhand and tied the game at 7:34.
Just 45 seconds later, Nicolas Papineau placed the perfect shot over the blocker of Quentin Miller to make it 2-1, as Mason Loewen and Trent Ballentyne picked up the assists as the Spruce Kings faithful came to life.
Will Moore sealed the deal with an empty net goal at 18:40, as Ballentyne picked up his second assist.
