Stojkov Reflects on All Star Experience
Vernon, BC: It was an action-packed All-Star weekend for Vernon Vipers defenseman Marko Stojkov, who left an indelible mark on the festivities. From watching the Top Prospects Game to winning the prestigious Hardest Shot Competition and helping Team Purple secure victory in the 3-on-3 Tournament, Stojkov’s weekend was brimming with excitement.
“It was a huge honor for me to go to Salmon Arm to represent the Vernon Vipers at All-Star Weekend,” Stojkov said, reflecting on the experience. “Being a 20-year-old in my final year of junior, it was a really nice feeling to be recognized and selected to play and compete with all the top talent in the BCHL.”
Stojkov’s crowning moment came during the Hardest Shot Competition, where he clocked in with a thunderous 90.8 mph slap shot, making him the only shooter to break the 90 mph mark:
“Winning the hardest shot was a really cool feeling,” Stojkov shared. “When I saw the competition, I won’t lie, I was feeling a little nervous. I went out there and just tried to hit the puck as hard as I could, and it ended up being the fastest. I was happy and excited to find out that I won.”
As the weekend progressed, Stojkov continued to shine, contributing significantly to Team Purple’s triumph in the 3-on-3 Tournament:
“I definitely had a ton of fun this weekend,” he said. “Team Purple had a great group of guys, and we were super excited to take home the trophy. A big thank you to the city of Salmon Arm and the Silverbacks for organizing such a great event.”
With this unforgettable weekend behind him, Stojkov and the Vernon Vipers now set their sights on the playoffs. They will continue their push this Friday night when they host the Okotoks Oilers at 7 pm.
