PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club has acquired the BCHL playing rights to 2004-born goaltender Ethan Buenaventura from the Cowichan Valley Capitals, in exchange for future considerations, the team announced Thursday.

“Ethan’s addition adds valuable experience to our goaltending position. He has played over 100 games in the WHL. He’s a high character kid and was really well respected by his coaches and teammates in Calgary. He’s going to be a great addition to our program, on and off the ice,” commented Vees’ President, General Manager, and Head Coach, Fred Harbinson.

Buenaventura spent the past four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, product played in 114 career regular season games with Calgary and posted a 40-53-14-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record, to go along with a 3.52 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. The 6’2, 198-pound goaltender won the Hitmen’s Player Choice Award, Coaches Award, and Humanitarian of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season.

“I’m excited to be joining a distinguished organization like the Vees to finish off my last year of my junior. I look forward to playing in front of the fans and joining the community,” said Buenaventura.

Buenaventura will wear number 31 and will join the Vees for their upcoming road trip to Cranbrook and Trail on Friday and Saturday. Fans can watch both games on FloHockey TV or listen to Bounce 800 AM.
