Lehigh Valley Phantoms (0-3-0) vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2-1-0)

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms conclude their big Opening Weekend with a Sunday afternoon tilt against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

It is Round 2 out of 12 in the season-rivalry series with the Penguins having prevailed on home ice last week in a 2-1 decision on October 16 in the first game of the season.

Today’s game at 3:05 p.m. can be seen on NHL Network as well as on the Service Electric Network. Radio broadcast coverage of today’s game is on 1470-WSAN and the Phantoms 365 app beginning with the Pregame Show at 2:30. Fans can also watch at AHLTV.com

21-year-old rookie Sam Ersson is expected to get the start in goal for Lehigh Valley.

Over 7,500 fans returned to PPL Center for Opening Night on Saturday in the first game with a full crowd in 591 days. The fans were bringing the noise and wore white fo rthe team’s Whiteout event and waved their rally towels enthusiastically in the raucous atmosphere.

Max Willman scored on a shorthanded reakaway late in the first period to give the Phantoms the early lead but the Wolf Pack surged back to take the lead with 5:02 left on a goal for Jonny Brodzinski and then tacked on a late empty-netter for a 3-1 win.

After today’s game, the Phantoms will play six of the next seven on the road beginning with a Wednesday rematch at Wilkes-Barre followed by a Friday trip to the Utica Comets. Lehigh Valley’s next home game will be Saturday, October 30 against the Syracuse Crunch.
