A FURIOUS ice hockey star left his rival seriously hurt after BODY SLAMMING him in a shocking fit of rage.
Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson went on the rampage during his team’s NHL clash with New York Rangers.
During the second period, Pavel Buchnevich attempted to score for Rangers, but fell head down onto the ice. Wilson then delivered a blow to the back of Buchnevich’s head.
Other players came to Buchnevich’s defense, including Artemi Panarin who Wilson pulled to the ground during the skirmish.
During the fracas, Wilson rained down punches on his opponent.
The commentators on the match were shocked, saying: “Oh boy, this is ridiculous. What is Wilson doing?” as they watched the savage scrap.
The referees dished out a 10-minute penalty for misconduct and a four-minute penalty for roughing – ice hockey’s term for a minor altercation – to Wilson.
Panarin and Buchnevich each received two minutes for roughing.
Panarin was later pulled from the game due to injury resulting from the fight.
The Russian star will sit out for the remaining three games of the season with a lower-body issue.
Rangers coach David Quinn spoke out about the incident saying: “We all saw it. There are lines that can’t be crossed in this game.
“You got one of the star players in this league now that could have gotten seriously, seriously hurt in that incident.
“You all saw what happened, and it happens time and time again with him. Totally unnecessary.”
Fellow Rangers player Mika Zibanejad said: “I don’t honestly know where to start, it’s just horrible. Zero respect. I don’t know why I’m surprised, but yeah, just horrible.”

Today, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Wilson was being fined $5,000 – the maximum amount – for the incident.
There will be no other disciplinary action against Wilson.
This continues Wilson’s history with the Department of Player Safety, after his fifth suspension occurring earlier this year.
