BURNABY (April 12, 2021) – The Powell River Kings recorded their third win of the season on Monday night with a 5-3 win over the Coquitlam Express at Scotia Barn.

The eventual game winner was scored by Ben Raymond at 13:51 of the third period, and Jacob Bonkowski added a late empty netter to secure the victory.

Coquitlam jumped to a 2-1 lead after the first period with goals from Danny Pearson and Keeton Oakley. Adamo Santia scored the lone goal for the Kings at 11:37, his first of two on the night.

Nolan Krogfoss and Adamo Santia scored 40 seconds apart to open the second period, but a goal from Christian MacDougall on power play got the Express even.

Thomas Wardle stopped 33 shots for his second win of the year, while the Express’ Jaden Little put aside 37 of 41 shots and earned third star honours. Ben Raymond and Adamo Santia were named first and second stars of the game, respectively.

The Kings return to action for the first of back-to-back games starting on Thursday against the Express at 7:30pm.
