STOCKTON, Calif. – Heat forward Matthew Phillips has been named one of the top forward prospects in the AHL’s Western Conference after recording a strong second professional season, slowed only by a lower body injury that sidelined him for 17 games as he finished the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 campaign with 15 goals and 18 assists.
The Calgary, Alberta native drew praise from NHL.com Independent Correspondent Patrick Williams following the forward’s stellar sophomore season, a year in which Phillips earned both AHL All-Star recognition and his first call-up to the Calgary Flames.
The full rankings, in which Phillips is listed sixth among the group, can be found here.
