He started out like any hockey-loving kid, enjoying a rink his dad built in their yard, playing street hockey when the weather was too warm for ice, playing on a tournament team, venerating his local hockey heroes. Only this isn’t a Canadian story. It’s the life of Anze Kopitar, who went to play in Sweden at 16, got drafted eleventh overall by the LA Kings in 2005 (his birth year is 1987), and is now in possession of two Stanley Cup rings.
