[Men's Golf] Shibley Leads Saints to 3rd Place Finish
South Bend, Ind. - The Holy Cross men's golf team was able to finish strong at Blackthorn Golf Course to take a third place finish at the Pilot Invite hosted by Bethel College. Brendon Shibley continued his strong play by leading the Saints for a second straight week. The Saints placed higher than every Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference squad besides future NCAA Division II foe Purdue Northwest, who finished two strokes lower.
Shibley was tied for first after one round of play, but a second round 78 moved him to a third place tie to finish the event. The junior came out on fire and fired an even par 72 on Friday, and followed that up with Saturday's final round 78. Joey Medora was able to bounce back from last Saturday to card rounds of 77 and 78 at the invite. Medora's 155 total was good enough to finish tied for 13th place.
Alex Meagher finished tied for 22nd place after shooting round of 78 and 82, respectively. Greg Fean shot an 88 during Friday's first round of play, but improved eight strokes on Saturday to card an 80 and take 36th place at Blackthorn. Matt Sheldon rounded out the Saints lineup with rounds of 83 and 87 to finish in 41st place.
The Saints will return to action on April 24th for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvia, Illinois.
