What to Take on a Golf Holiday – The Ultimate Golf Holiday Packing List 2026/2027

0 0

Every golfer knows that if you want to experience all that this sport has to offer, you’re going to want to travel the world to visit different golf courses, perhaps on one of our many golf holiday packages. Different landscapes, different weather and different attitudes & etiquette lead to a different game on every course.

Unless you plan on taking the car everywhere, a golf holiday means you will have to do the one thing many new golf travellers dread – bringing your expensive kit on a plane.

And what else to bring on a golf trip? Do you need to pack your golf balls? Are you confident you’re not forgetting your tees? And you are really sure all your mates will bring their pitchmark repairers?

But don’t worry.

In this ultimate guide on how to pack for a golf trip, we’ll cover everything so that both first-time travellers and forgetful experts are covered. From golf clubs to flips flops, from visas to visors, you’ll be ready to hit the course knowing you have not missed a thing.

Golf Equipment Checklist

Of course, no golfer worth their salt would forget to bring their golf clubs and golf bag on their holiday. One of the most essential pieces of kit in your arsenal, you’ll definitely want to bring your own if you have them.

Should you forget however, or in case you are new to the sport and don’t yet own your own set, many of the golf courses will be able to offer you a set to rent at a fee. It always pays off to check this beforehand, as availability and quality can sometimes vary. So if you can, bring your own.

Now how to pack your golf clubs for a flight? To transport your clubs and your many other tools, you’ll want to get your hands on a quality golf travel bag. If you’re planning to go on golfing holidays multiple times a year, consider investing in your own bag, but borrowing one from a friend is also an option.

A decent quality golf bag will protect your clubs in transit, meaning you can rest a bit more worry-free on the trip itself.

To pack your clubs safely, make sure to remove any adjustable heads from your driver and your woods, wrap them in towels or clothing and put them in the headcovers. Pack a towel or some clothing between your clubs as well so that there’s less room for them to slide around and get damaged.

With the heads of the clubs detached, it also gives you more room in the bag for some of the items listed below. It’s a win-win!

Once your clubs are safe and secure, it’s time to pack the rest of your golf gear:

  • Golf Balls
  • Tees
  • Ball Markers
  • Golf Shoes
  • Gloves
  • Rangefinder (don’t forget the charger!)
  • Pitchmark repairer

We would also recommend to pack a few of the more generic holiday items in your golf bag, so that you’re ready to hit the course as soon as you touch down. No need to sift through your suitcase or carry-on!

  • Sunscreen
  • Visor/hat/cap
  • Glasses/sunglasses/lenses
  • Second set of golf clothing (shorts & trousers, long-sleeved & short-sleeved shirt etc.)
  • Waterproof jacket & trousers

Golf Holiday Clothing

The clothing you should bring with you on your golf holiday are dependent on where you’re going at what time of year. We would always recommend checking the weather forecast a few days before travelling. This helps you make sure you’re bringing enough suitable clothing.

For on the course, we would recommend:

  • Golf shirts
  • Golf shorts or skirts
  • Golf shoes
  • Belts
  • Socks

No matter how fanatic of a golfer you are, you’re unlikely going to spend every waking moment on the course. So you shouldn’t forget to bring some of the more essential and typical items either:

  • Underwear
  • T-shirts
  • Shirts
  • Trousers
  • Jumpers
  • Sweaters
  • Shoes

And if the destination is known for its lovely weather and beautiful beaches, such as Barcelona, you will want to make the most out of your golf holiday by also going for a dip and a stroll through the city on a guided city tour. Don’t forget to bring the following:

  • Flip flops
  • Swimwear
  • Beach towels
  • More sunscreen!

Toiletries, accessories & documents

As with any holiday, toiletries fall in that category of items that are easy to bring, but hard to remember! That’s why even on an exciting golfing holiday you should make sure to bring:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Floss
  • Deodorant
  • Razors
  • Aftershave
  • Comb/brush
  • Lip-balm with SPF
  • Medicine
  • Make-up/hair products

Of course, you should remember to bring these essential accessories as well to make sure you have some light entertainment with you to relax. It even pays off to bring some bits to get you through the night should your mates start snoring too loudly in the hotel room:

  • Headphones
  • Books/E-reader/Tablet
  • Chargers
  • Magazines
  • Pen & paper
  • Sleep mask
  • Earplugs

And then last but certainly not least, there are the essential documents you need to bring to ensure you can travel without a worry:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s licence
  • Insurance documents
  • Wallet
  • Phone
  • Local currency or an international debit/credit card
  • Boarding passes
  • Visa (if required for the destination)

If you bring the above, you should have all you need to make the most out of your golf holiday!
