Camp John Hay Golf Club under new management as BCDA takes control of property

0 12

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The Camp John Hay Golf Club and its facilities are now under the interim management of Golfplus Management Incorporated (GMI), beginning January 6, 2025.

This development follows the Bases Conversion and Development Authority’s (BCDA) recovery of the 247-hectare Camp John Hay property, as mandated by the Supreme Court’s October 2024 ruling.

GMI, known for managing premium driving ranges in Nuvali and Alviera, has partnered with DuckWorld PH, a sports management and marketing agency, to oversee operations during the transition period.

The Notice to Vacate was officially served to Robert Sobrepeña-led CJH Development Corporation (CJH DevCo) and its subsidiary, CJH Golf Club Incorporated, on January 6, marking the turnover of the golf estate to BCDA.

“We know the Camp John Hay golf course is a favorite in the golf community. New and former players will continue to enjoy services at the estate facilities during this interim period,” said BCDA vice president Mark Torres.

GMI president and interim management head Eduardo Arguelles emphasized the focus on maintaining quality and preparing for the estate’s long-term future.

“We will be introducing improvements and evaluating systems and protocols to provide appropriate recommendations when the estate is ready to be turned over to a long-term private partner,” Arguelles said.

Arguelles also assured clients and stakeholders: “We want to assure everyone that services will continue, and we will be updating clients regularly to guide them during the transition.”

John Hay Management Corporation president and CEO Marlo Quadra underscored the commitment to uphold the prestige of the golf estate while safeguarding the welfare of employees and caddies.

“The new management will ensure services continue and workers and caddies are cared for. We look forward to upholding the prestige of the golf estate and quality of service for players and guests,” Quadra said.

To facilitate a seamless transition, the estate facilities temporarily closed on January 7, Tuesday, and January 8, Wednesday. This closure will allow the Office of the Baguio Sheriff to conduct an inventory of the property and provide the interim management team the opportunity to implement operational changes. Interim guidelines, including information on playtime, rates, and event reservations, are expected to be released on January 8, 2025.
