Koh and Tan secure Taiwan LPGA cards for 2025 season
November 25: Singapore professionals Koh Sock Hwee and Amanda Tan secured more playing opportunities for their 2025 season after finishing tied-15th and 17th respectively at the recently concluded Taiwan LPGA (TLPGA) Tour Qualifying Tournament.
With the top 20 finishers at the Qualifying tournament earning their cards for the new season, Koh and Tan were assured of their playing status in Chinese Taipei next year.
For Koh, regaining her playing rights in Chinese Taipei was a morale booster after a lacklustre season where she missed multiple cuts in the tournament golf she competed in worldwide.
“Prior to Covid, I was actually competing on the Taiwan tour with full status. However, they did not retain our status during Covid and I lost my card. To be able to make it through qualifying again and get full status means a lot as I look to compete more in Asia again,” said Koh.
“2024 has been a bit of a trying year. However, things are just starting to look better with the support we are getting from the recent partnership of SGA and Radar Tyres. In 2025, I am looking to compete again in Asia, mainly China and Taiwan and a little bit in Australia. I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
It was also a welcome boost for Tan, who had to endure a difficult season and was struggling to make the cuts in many of the events she teed up in especially in the first half of the year. Tan’s best result came at the Chongqing Women’s Open on the CLPGA where she finished tied-24th in September.
“It (earning her TLPGA card) definitely means a lot to me. That was one of my goals for the year and I am very glad I got it done. Also being able to see the work me, my coach and parents coming through is definitely very fulfilling and makes it even more special,” said Tan.
“2024 hasn’t exactly been the easiest. The first six months felt like a huge test for my golf. I managed to finally see my coach in August and made some changes in my game which is really nice to see some results from it.”
